( Elizabeth knows exactly what's happening the moment it happens. She knew it would come, and in fact she's glad to get it over with. It is with that attitude that she sits in the chair of the Velvet Room. She has yet to open her eyes, though the trip did not disorient her in the slightest. There's not much to see either way. Her master, and she assumes her state of mind will be an elevator, and her sister. The question is whether they will be glad to see her or not. )
Let us finish with this formality the soonest we can. I know where I am, I've indeed accepted the contract, and-
( Her eyes open as she speaks and she notices her former master is not present nor is her sister. A male, but not her brother, not much to give thought to - No, it can't be. No, she must be seeing things. She blinks, and yet his presence remains. Is she dreaming? She's never really had a dream before. Or was this a... nighthorse? )
Where is Igor? Why.... why are you here?
( For some reason, her tone is angry. She's not sure why it is, even. Or what it should be. Or who she's angry with... But she knows this is not right. )

[ the lithe teen gives his guest a slight bow. this one is curious, a look to her that resembles someone that should be of the velvet room as opposed to someone that should be a guest. but denizens do not accept contracts, correct? they can't.
he frowns at a little when she doesn't recognize him. isn't that what attendants do, though? they stay inside the velvet room and try to give as much impartial aid as they can to their guests. she is not her first. he has seen two more guests that have similar questions.
it must be a coincidence. the one he looks like must be someone they all recognize. ]
"Master is away. I'm afraid he has not informed me of the details of your contract, my apologies."
no subject
No matter. I will find him and have a word with him later.
Moving on.
( Elizabeth smiles despite everything. At this time emotions would be difficult and confusing, and surely wouldn't help the situation. So she simply ignores them. She'll find out more from him if she only asks rather than revealing what she knows. )
I am Elizabeth. Tell me: what is your name?
no subject
[ he gives her a slight nod of the head, trying to keep the conversation light and entertaining. it seems to be of master's interest to bring in guests without telling him as of late, but he's in no position to complain since this is is duty after all. ]
"my name is mortimer. it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, miss elizabeth."
[ at the smile, no matter how fake, mortimer drops his tense shoulder and withdraws the tarot from his sleeves. he shall ask if she would like a tarot reading to steady her feelings, to steady this growing flutter in his own heart. the premonition that something is wrong is starting to drawn over him. there's something in her gaze that isn't like the others, something inhuman. ]

Surely you must realize by now that I am like you. So let's leave the fancy parlor tricks for another time, shall we?
( Part of her wonders if this is only his form, that any part of him is gone and still in place at the seal. If then, that leaves two things. One, she must definitely yell angrily at Igor and two, what did that make her exactly? )
May I ask another question of you? Don't worry, you needn't respond since I am answering yes for you. Well then, have you had many clients?
no subject
time does not pass in the velvet room, and mortimer has lost track of how long it has been since the last one's arrival. she had been looking for him too. ]
"i've had two other guests before your arrival."
[ it his also their policy to reveal nothing of the fate of the guests before her, so he simply waits for her to continue. ]

Why don't we play a game in this time that we have? You may ask me a question now, and I will try to answer it. Then I will do the same for you. We may ask whatever we wish and I suppose the other can refuse to answer if they so desire. But that's no fun now, is it?
( In other words, she will attempt to find out as much as she can in the most casual manner possible. For her, this is discreet. It seems friendly enough, honestly. Whether or not this is him, she wants to speak to him and he must be curious now too. Elizabeth grins. The card in her hand turns to face him, revealing the Death Arcana. )
Your turn.

"I will answer your questions about myself to the best of my abilities."
[ he weaves his own hand over the tarot deck over the small table, the top card flipping on to the table, revealing the wheel of fortune. ]
"But the confidentially of my guests will remain with me."
[ he pauses. ]
"Are you acquainted with a figure named "Minato Arisato?" "
no subject
He was a guest of mine. One of my last. Is there a particular reason you asked about him? I would say, ( She makes a face, speaking with a very stern but silly tone. ) the confidentiality of my guests will remain with me! But seeing as I no longer serve Igor, I may speak freely.
no subject
not at all.
[ he flips.
the five of cups faces him, staring into his yellow eyes. ]
what freed you from master's service?
no subject
( That was the phrase, wasn't it? Elizabeth grasps the card, forcing it to disappear. However, no persona is called, she simply got rid of it.
There's a pause here. She's imagining things, silly things. Taking him away from here, showing him the mall, wandering together. Somehow her heart feels both happy and sad, heavy and light. )
... You could leave as well, you realize. Igor has many like us. Speaking of, have you happened to meet any others of our kind? I was under the impression my sister was currently in your position.
ARE YOU FEELING IT NOW MR LILY
is this to represent 'Minato's relationship with Elizabeth? Or his other guests? Mortimer does not comment on this, and once again hovers his hand over the rest of the deck. ]
I have not met any others of m- our kind. Master did not inform me there were people like me residing in this space, so my apologies, but I have not met your sister.
[ he tries shifting that wry smile into a genuine one, and reflects upon the sixth arcana. ]
does that make me your 'brother', elizabeth?
SHUT THE FRICKLE FRACKLE UP
( Her words are somewhat harsh, but... Minato is not like Theodore. Minato is not like her. Even if this is but his form, it should not be used in such a manner! Who does Igor think he is parading a corpse around like this! )
What do you know of the world outside this realm? Do you know anything at all, I wonder?
no subject
[ again, he flips the card at the top of the deck, revealing the four of cups, but instead of staring at Mortimer on its end, the four of cups glares at him from its upside-down position. Interesting, he has not seen a reverse tarot in quite some time.
does the card reveal his own emotions, or Elizabeth's? ]
I know not of the world outside these gates. Would you retell your experiences to me, if I asked?
