[ each and every day, he is compelled to reiterate the fate that awaits them. ryoji would love to spend every day with minato, sharing laughter and small smiles, but he knows that isn't how their story is meant to end.
fate is something he regrets, but it isn't something he can change.
even now, after school, he's trying to pretend their time together isn't finite, but there is a lack of warmth in his actions, the shadow's mind far too preoccupied with the oncoming predicament to focus on the other boy. when he speaks, it sounds detached, but there's a thoughtfulness to his words as if the topic it covers is somehow casual, not at all negative.

[ the air nips at his bare fingers in the cold winter air. gloves, he thinks absently, he should wear gloves to replace the warmth ryoji's hand used to offer. it would end up just another absent attempt for contact. minato ponders on ryoji's words, silent once more, but his ashen-grey eyes never change, and he stares ahead, despite the fear creeping into his expression. ]
